Will laser hair removal hurt?

Laser Hair Removal feels different for everyone.  Our clients who are used to waxing tell us that laser treatments are the way to go!  Remember that laser hair removal is non-invasive.  There can be heat from the laser, but we have attachments for our lasers that help to cool the skin during treatment to help with the warmth.  And for our more sensitive clients, we have an over-the-counter (OTC) 4% lidocaine topical anesthetic, Sōnacaine.  If you’re treating a larger area, you may want to utilize Sōnacaine to make your treatment more enjoyable.

Who performs the laser hair removal treatments?

Sōna MedSpa locations utilize licensed medical professionals, like RNs, LPNs, Nurse Practitioners, etc., to perform our laser hair removal treatments.  These licensed medical professionals are overseen by the local Sōna MedSpa’s Medical Director, a board-certified, licensed medical doctor.  All of these medical professionals receive extensive training, 75 hours worth, to understand how to perform the treatments effectively and mitigate any risk for our clients.  After training, our treatment providers undergo certification testing developed by our National Medical Director.  Sōna MedSpa offers on-going training and evaluation of our Medical Teams across the nation to ensure our clients are in good hands.

Are there risks with laser hair removal, like burns?

Sōna MedSpa understands your concerns and we take every precaution to ensure that your treatment will be a success at every stage.  Sōna clients must fill out an extensive medical health history and we check with you every treatment to make sure nothing in your history has changed like the addition of medications that may cause you to be more photosensitive than typical.

“Laser burn” is the primary risk with laser hair removal treatments.  It is a skin reaction that can mimic an intense sunburn.  To lessen the risk of laser burn, Sōna MedSpa evaluates your skin using the ChromoTester which allows us to measure the melanin content of your skin to correctly set the parameters of our laser.  Correct parameters allow the laser to direct its energy more to the concentration of melanin on the root of the hair follicles and bypass the melanin in your skin, providing a safe and highly-effective treatment.  As a national network, Sōna MedSpa has a side effect rate of less than 1%.  This should give you the confidence that we do everything in our power to provide you with a great experience!

Does Sōna guarantee results?

By law, no cosmetic procedure may be guaranteed.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Laser hair removal is non-invasive, our clients typically continue with their daily activities directly after their treatment.  In fact, many of Sōna’s clients schedule a wide variety of the many treatments we offer during lunch and work breaks!

Results with laser hair removal are not immediately seen.  You will require a series of laser hair removal treatments over time.  The changes in your hair growth will be subtle to start, however after 3 to 5 treatments, most of our clients begin clearly seeing the results of their treatments!  Many factors may effect the success of your treatment program – talk to your local Sōna Consultant to find out more!
