If you suffer from a case of mild to moderate acne, you now have an alternative treatment option – away from creams, medications and cleansers. Blue light therapy has been proven to clear and control moderate cases of acne brought on by p. acne bacteria. Isolating the wavelength for blue light and applying that light to the effected area kills the bacteria and helps control the acne break-outs. BLU-U 4170 Illuminator treatments are simple. Clients sit before a bank of lights specific to the blue wavelength for approximately 15 minutes once or twice per week. Dependent upon the level of acne and the desired results, treatment sessions may continue for 5 to 6 weeks. The light is not hot, there is no pain and no down-time. 
In addition to treating p. acne, blue light can also treat actinic keratoses (AKs), scaly rough patches of skin indicative of excessive sun exposure. These rough patches of skin may evolve into a carcinoma. Levulan Kerastick treatments can help to clear minimally to moderately thick AKs. Levulan Kerastick blue light treatments are a two-step process. Step one is the application of the Levulan Kerastick – a 20% topical solution of aminolevulinic acid HCl. This topical makes the AKs more sensitive to the blue light wavelength. Your Sōna MedSpa skin professional will apply the product to the effected area. After 14 to 18 hours, you’ll return to Sōna MedSpa for the light treatment. The light treatment will destroy the AKs – independent of whether they are precancerous or not. Unlike the acne light treatment, the Levulan Kerastick treatment may cause clients a slight stinging sensation in the treatment area. This slight discomfort dissipates within 24 hours.
