There are many different types of lasers used for aesthetic purposes. How do you know that you are getting the best laser for your needs? The first thing to know about lasers is that they are grouped based on wavelength. The wavelength that each laser has is measure in nanometers. The range of lasers used for medical aesthetics has a wavelength anywhere from 694 nm to 1200 nm. Below are a list of the types of lasers that exist and what there wavelengths are.

• Ruby laser-- 694 nm
• Alexandrite laser-- 755 nm
• Diode laser-- 800 nm – click here for a description
• Neodymium - yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser-- 1064 nm – click here for a description
• Intense pulsed light system (IPL) without heat-- 550-1200 nm – click here for a description
• Light and heat energy LHE-- 400-1200 nm
