Stretch marks (Striae Distensae) are common skin conditions that represent linear dermal scars accompanied by epidermal atrophy. They are frequent undesirable skin lesions that result in considerable aesthetic concern.

The factors that lead to the development of striae are poorly understood even though it affects so many. Approximately 90% of pregnant women, 70% of adolescent females, and 40% of adolescent males have stretch marks.
