What it is…Using principles similar to those of the ancient art of Acupuncture, cold laser (or low-level laser) therapies can help you to quit smoking and relieve stress. A non-invasive therapy used to balance the energy flow between meridians on your body, these therapies have been used in Europe and Canada for more than 30 years. The therapies promote the release of endorphins, natural chemicals in your body that signal your system to reduce stress and increase your energy. In turn, tension and stress are reduced, circulation is increased, and the body is relaxed deeply. This is accomplished by triggering various points on your hands, face, and ears by the use of a safe and comfortable cold laser.
How it works…Photonic energy (electromagnetic or light energy) absorption. Cold laser therapies use light energy from low-level lasers or LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) to directly bio-stimulate the body’s cells without damaging them. Photonic energy is absorbed by the photo receptor sites in the cell membrane. This initiates a message passed cell to cell signaling the desired biological process such as wound healing, inflammation, or reduction of pain and cell growth. Different wavelengths of light and different trigger points on the body indicate to the cells the desired outcome of the therapy – your body does the rest.
Smoking Cessation*The principle behind helping one quit smoking is that the cold laser replaces endorphins that are released by nicotine. When nicotine releases endorphins, the smoker gets a sense of relaxation and when smoking stops, the sudden drop in endorphin levels leads to withdrawal symptoms. Cold laser therapy helps reduce the cravings and stress, restoring balance to your body – the need for cigarettes is eliminated. Smoking facts: Smoking tobacco is the single most preventable cause of death. Smoking causes:
The therapy session is relaxing and often pain free. The process is application of a gentle, non-invasive laser beam to specific acupuncture points on the body. This generates the release of endorphins—the body's natural chemical that deals with the relief of pain and stress. The low power nature of the cold laser stimulates a biochemical effect, not thermal effect. This lack of heat typical to laser treatments means that there is no damage to living tissue. When you quit smoking, your metabolism slows down. Your body is no longer fighting to force the toxins inherent to smoking out of your body. Do not compound your problem by replacing cigarettes with overeating. The cold laser therapy session will also help increase your metabolism, so you are less likely to experience weight gain like so many people do when they quit smoking.
