Spider Veins

Say goodbye to spider veins

What are spider veins?
Spider veins are like varicose veins but smaller. They begin as tiny capillaries and appear as blue or red squiggles. They are small red, blue or purple veins that commonly appear on the surface of the thighs, calves, and ankles. It's estimated that at least one third of the adult female population is troubled with this common problem. People often seek treatment for spider veins because of cosmetic concern. However, it also is common for spider veins to cause symptoms, such as aching, heaviness, itching, and night cramps.

Though lying below the surface, vein disorders are some of the hardest skin conditions to cover up. Spider veins can be particularly vexing because they appear in the face and legs. They are the result of chronic photo damage; as the skin becomes thinner, the vessels become more visible.

How are spider veins treated?
The Harmony Laser can provide the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver an effective spider vein treatment. It treats a broad range of vessels: from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with multiple skin colors can experience outstanding results with minimal side effects. This treatment can be beneficial on many parts of the body where noticeable veins or capillaries are a problem.

How does the technology work?
The Harmony Laser uses a hand piece called the Long-pulse 1064 Nd:YAG. This hand piece has a different wave length then some of the other hand pieces, like Pixel and AFT, but is perfect for treating spider viens.  For more information on spider vein technology visit Alma's website by clicking here.
