As the name suggests, Sōna MedSpa is both a medical facility and a luxury spa. In fact, we have performed more laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments than any other medspa in the country. This experience provides the foundation for the Sōna Concept®, our treatment protocols that have helped us achieve levels of effectiveness and safety that we believe are unsurpassed in the industry. In addition to our Sōna Concept® and laser technology, every Sōna MedSpa has a highly trained medical staff. All treatments are performed by licensed medical professionals who have completed intensive training at our Sōna University™. It's important to us that you are relaxed and comfortable and that your Sōna MedSpa experience is an enjoyable one. Clients who have tried other treatments, such as electrolysis or waxing, say there is much less discomfort with the Sōna procedure, and report that if you feel anything at all, it is similar to a tingling sensation. For those clients who may experience some sensitivity, Sōna has made available a topical anesthetic gel called Sōnacaine®, which is applied prior to the treatment to soothe the skin and control any discomfort. 

The laser technology used in the Sōna process provides faster and more precise treatment than found in many other lasers today. After your treatment, your skin will be cleansed and you can look forward to your normal activities immediately. If your skin will be exposed to the sun after treatment, a sunscreen is recommended for 48 hours.

The Sōna MedSpa treatment process is as smooth as the results we achieve. Treatment sessions are quick and require minimal before and after treatment personal care. The step-by-step process is outlined below:

Before Treatment

• No waxing, tweezing, bleaching, depilatories or electrolysis prior to treatment. Shaving is fine and does not effect treatment.
• The area to be treated should be shaved just before treatment.
• For two weeks prior to treatment, you should not allow the area to be exposed to sun or tanning beds.

Day of Treatment

• Prior to treatment, your medical professional will have you remove any deodorant, powder and makeup on the areas to be treated.
  If it's your first treatment, you will fill out a form that helps us to understand your skin and build an appropriate treatment program.
• If you haven't previously received a consultation, you will have an opportunity at this time to ask questions and to understand how to reduce the overall cost of your treatment program.
  The laser treats many hairs at a time, enabling short treatment sessions. Depending on the size of the treatment area, a session may last between ten minutes (for lip, chin, etc.) and 60 minutes (for back, legs, etc.)
• When the laser pulses over your skin, you will feel a momentary, slight stinging or tingling sensation. The sensation disappears the moment the laser stops pulsing. For those with more sensitive skin, Sōnacaine, a topical anaesthetic gel, can be applied prior to treatment.
• Immediately following laser treatment, you may experience redness, similar to a mild sunburn. These normal tissue responses are temporary and will usually disappear over the next few hours.

After Treatment

• Immediately following treatment (12-24 hours) treat the area gently. Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking at the treated area. Avoid very hot showers, baths, soaking in a hot tub or swimming in a chlorinated pool. Gently pat the skin dry after bathing or showering.
• As soon as the mild redness from the day's treatment subsides, clients may resume normal daily activities, including exercise.
• The treated hairs will not fall out right away. It can take up to three weeks for the hair to fall away. This process can be helped along by gentle use of a washcloth or loofa sponge four to five days after treatment.

Skin care took a giant leap forward with the introduction of the next generation of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT™*). By using specialized handsets and precisely controlling the amount and intensity of light, we are able to effectively treat problem areas with pulsed light – without damaging healthy surrounding skin. With the correct equipment and treatment protocols, this marvelously versatile pulsed light technology can be successfully applied to the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, including:

• Age spots
• Uneven skin tones
• Rosacea
• Spider veins in the legs and/or face
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Acne

Before you begin any skin rejuvenation treatments, your Sōna consultant will give you a thorough skin assessment. For this, we use our exclusive SōnaSmart Analysis System† which utilizes epidermal digital imaging technology to identify problems areas in your skin.

The system will analyze your fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, your pore size, bacterial level and overall skin tone. Armed with this data, your age, hair color, and after discussing your personal skin goals, your personal consultant will determine the optimal Sōna treatment program for you.

Following each skin rejuvenation treatment, you will receive a refreshing ultrasonic facial treatment to re-hydrate your skin. This Sōna-signature treatment uses ultrasound technology to effectively infuse your skin with a nutrient-rich gel packed with antioxidants – leaving you feeling fresh and looking radiant.

The Sōna MedSpa treatment process is as smooth as the results we achieve. Treatment sessions are quick and require minimal personal care for the duration of the treatment process.

Before Treatment

• Avoid skin irritants: waxing, bleaching, chemical peels.
• Two weeks prior to treatment, you should not allow the treatment area to be exposed to sunlight or tanning beds.

Day of Treatment

• If you haven't previously received a consultation, you will still have an opportunity to discuss your skin care concerns and desires.
• If it's your first treatment, you will complete a medical history questionnaire which will be reviewed for your safety.
  The laser treatments are relatively quick and painless and Botox takes only a few minutes. Restylane treatments may take 30-45 minutes. 

After Treatment

• Immediately following laser treatment you may experience mild transient redness. Ultrasound treatment will diminish the redness. Make-up may be applied following the treatment.
• Following Botox you are asked to actively flex the injected muscles and remain upright for a minimum of 4 hours. Make-up may be applied immediately following the treatment.
• Following a Restylane injection you may experience redness and swelling for 24-72 hours. Make-up may be applied immediately following the treatment.
